11th birthday celebration was lit at Protea on Deck

Soweto’s Finest had quite the bday party at the hottest chill spots in Protea.

Protea on Deck was lit when Soweto’s Finest celebrated their 11^th birthday in Extension 11 with residents.

The established entertainers wanted to celebrate their birthday in conjunction with youth month this year and also felt it fitting to celebrate in the area where they all grew up.

The group’s spokesperson Njabulo Mahlaba said, “We wanted to make it about youths since we are youths ourselves because at the end of the day we are the leaders of the new youth per se so that was the reasoning behind our plans.”

In honour of the of the freedom young people have in 2017, the group wanted to open the stage for up and coming artists to express their freedom through their art on stage from rappers, dancers, and poets.

There were also well-known artists on the Protea on Deck on stage such as Zano, Morena, The Squire, DJ C- Live, DJ Ganyani, 2Lee Stark, TLT etc.

The group defines youth day as being able to practice their craft freely. “In 1976 and the years prior to that there were no youths doing what we are doing now or rather they didn’t have the freedom to do it, so youth day is about commemorating our youth and actually enjoying it, dancing and singing and doing what we love, without having to worry about any other obstacles,” said Mahlaba.

Residents who attended the birthday celebration couldn’t contain themselves as the dancefloor was packed to capacity as they danced the night away until the wee hours of the morning.
