Transcontinental finalist to represent Africa

The Transcontinental pageant was held on May 23 through to May 28 in Atlanta Georgia and McDonough Ga in the United States of America at the Henry County Performing Arts Centre.

The national and international delegates have been treated to a day of sightseeing and entertainment in the state capital, Atlanta.

Activities will include the “Georgia Aquarium”, “Skyview Atlanta”, “Atlantic Station”, concluding with a sponsor hosted dinner, at one of Atlanta’s finest restaurants.

The delegates have received a completed itinerary and wardrobe list prior to pageant week, to assist them in preparation for travel and planning.

The judging panel will include qualified and experienced national and international personalities and professionals who understand and respect the pageant industry.The primary charity platform of the Transcontinental Organization is The Pledge Campaign Against Domestic abuse.

Each delegate was required to deliver a live presentation to the panel of 7 judges based upon their individual charity work in their respective countries. This presentation score accounted for 35 percent of the delegates overall score.

According to their website, the Transcontinental pageant embraces the unique diversity that each international represents and embraces the delegate’s individual campaigns and life experience, the organization motto Crossing Continentals, celebrating “Beauty that Inspires”

Lorna Greyling is from Hartebeespoort and is our African representative and she said, “I am so proud to be representing the continent of Africa at the Mrs Transcontinental pageant in Atlanta Georgia, America.”

Greyling is a dynamic business owner, wife, and mother of three girls. Greyling, who lives life with the knowledge that she can do all things through Christ Who strengthens.

Greyling is the owner and founder of the Melville Wellness Centre and Day Spa and it is from there that she runs her #womanMpower program. This is where she educates, empowers, uplifts and inspires to give the women hope and a future.

Greyling said, “Being Mrs Africa Transcontinental has given me the opportunity and platform to raise funds and bring dignity back through our Nzuri and Dignity dreams projects.” Nzuri means “Beautiful” in Swahili.

Some of the funds that were raised by her initiative, was to host the first ever Miss/Mr Hartebeespoort and together with the 14 finalists they put together a night to remember.

This glamorous event made world history as it was the first ever fashion show and youth empowering program that was held on top of a mountain.

Greyling had a hiccup along the line where her husband was kidnapped in March 2010 in Nigeria. He was severely beaten and held for ransom. This traumatic experience affected their family physically, financially, and most of all, emotionally.

Greyling has written a book about this ordeal called kidnapped and used this story to bring hope and light when circumstances seem unbearable and hopeless.

Greyling said, “I am the proud ambassador for partners against crime and intend to use my inspiring story to bring hope and light on a worldwide scale.”
