The spirit of unity expressed through dance
Soweto based Dance companies bring their talents together working up a storm of a show.
A number of dance companies around Soweto have come together to proudly bring the spirit of artistic expression to life as they present the Soweto Dance Movement.
The collaborative art work will take place at the Soweto Theatre on January 20 and 21, the first show will start 07:30pm.
Ukhamba is a production that encompasses four elements from different production houses to bring a full African artistic experience.
The show will include a neoclassic production (a dynamic modernised form of ballet), African dances, African contemporary dancers and live instrumental music.
This comes as a result of four arts organisations from around Soweto joining forces to form one blended production.
“The idea behind this collaboration is to share and exchange skills as artists but most importantly to form a unit that can work in everybody’s favour.
“This also gives a platform to expose a vast array of talent that is hidden within our streets,” said Douglas Sekete from the Soweto Dance Movement.
