Fashion Guru wants to make you a model

Got what it take to be a model? This may be your start!

Upcoming fashion guru Mpho Hlongwane continues to shine in the local fashion fraternity. The King and Queen Black founder from Pimville is not only taking the fashion industry by storm but he is pushing boundaries on youth empowerment as well.

Next month he will be hosting a photo shoot for his swimwear collection. The shoot will provide a platform for youngsters who want to enter the world of modeling to showcase their talent.

“We are looking for 12 models that will star in that shoot. We are not looking for people who can only smile and pose for cameras but we are looking for people who want to pursue a career in the modeling and fashion industry,” said Hlongwane.

Aspiring models that make it through the auditioning process will get a chance to be groomed and mentored by experienced models and fashion experts from Deneo’s Model Management.

Christinah Sithole and Dineo Muyanga from Deneo’s Model Management have been roped in to empower the finalists with all the necessary skills needed in this cutthroat modeling industry.

Sithole is very specific about the type of models they want on their books. “Let’s get one thing straight there. We are not looking for models but we are looking for ambassadors.
“We are intertwining the film industry with fashion here so we have to make sure that we get people that can adapt to both,” said Sithole who is the South Africa’s ultimate brand ambassador finalist and model coach.

Dineo Muyanga who is a professional photographer added that people should not confuse this as just another model search for pretty faces.
“Everyone wants to be a model these days and people have this idea that it’s all about photo shots and nice pictures of themselves.
“Here we are looking for people who want to be good ambassadors even for their communities and be role models,” she said.

In terms of the specifics, there is no limit in terms of body sizes. The most important thing is for aspiring models to be comfortable with their bodies.
“You don’t have to be a yellow bone but you have to take care of your skin and be healthy with no visible tattoos,” said Sithole.
