The Young Voice Academy (YOVA) through the Africa Ke Rona programme celebrated Nandisa Groom as a princess at Kopanong Hall in Dobsonville.
According to the YOVA project director Thato Phiri, the purpose of the programme was to celebrate Nandisa by sourcing sponsors that will assist her and her family and also pamper the family.
The programme started at 2pm till 4pm with entertainment provided by the children of YOVA.
Nandisa was born on August 2003 at Baragwanath Hospital with an illness that made her paralyzed.
“The only basic need that helps in keeping her alive until this moment is future life porridge as a source of food, number six baby diapers for hygiene and towels for comfort.”
Simente said that the porridge is very expensive for her family to afford and it is the only nutritional food that can sustain her health.
Phiri said that before the programme started they took Nandisa’s family to the hair salon to pamper them and also took them to out for lunch.
Pick N Pay Dobsonville decided to donate grocery to Nandisa for the rest of her life and invited Nandisa’s father to come and collect waste material for his recycling business.
YOVA created the Africa Ke Rona programme to empower all the children of the community and the aim of the programme is to minimise the rate of dyslexic children in schools.
YOVA is asking the community, government, private sector, business sector, and individuals to help Andisa and her family.
Some of the guest that attended the programme are; the Pick N Pay managers, Dobsonville police and donors from the Seven Day Adventist.
