Club Salsa to host Pride After

Organizers bring pride to the community for the first time.

Club Salsa from Industria will be hosting the official pride After Party for the first time on the last weekend of October.

The event marks a first for the venue, bringing the pride event closer to the community that surrounds Industria. The event came as a surprise to Club Salsa owner Eugene Abrahams after he was approached by a couple of individuals requesting to book the club.

“A group of guys came to me saying they would like to book the club but I had no idea what it was for. Later on I realized that it’s for one of the biggest events in summer and I learned this only when I started seeing the posters, so this really came as a surprise to me.

“As a club owner I am both proud and excited about the coming event because not only will we gain popularity but we will be fully embracing all possible markets we have wanted to tap into, including the LGBTI,” said Abrahams.

The party will take place on October 29 at Club Salsa, for more information on the after party please call Tashan on 073 588 9047.

During October there will be two pride main events, one in Braamfontein and another in Melrose Arch.

The theme of the Melrose Arch event is ‘From Victim to Victor’ where everyone in gets an equal opportunity to express who they are without fear of judgement.

For the Braamfontein event, on October 19 there will be a movie screening on social issues that affects the LGBTIQ community.

On October 22 a seminar will take place aimed at offering support to upcoming entrepreneurs with a particular interest in the hairdressing industry while the main pride event will take place on October 29.

One of the themes of the main will be remembering Simon Nkoli while the theme at the Melrose Arch event is #nofilter which elaborates on being yourself without having to put on a front for society.

The after party for the Melrose Arch Event will take place at Melrose Boulevard and at the Bassline in Newton on October 29.
