Once upon a time in the Joburg Theatre. Joburg Ballet’s production of Cinderella returns to the stage on September 30 and ends on October 9.
The ballet returns for 10 performances on stage and is choreographed by Joburg Ballet’s artistic director Iain MacDonald. Johann Strauss’s champagne-infused melodies will fill the stage with musical compositions to set the scene for this ultimate rags-to-riches tale.
Macdonald said, “Cinderella has always been one of the company’s most popular ballets.”
“Strauss composed some of the most enchanting, best loved and memorable classical music ever written and Cinderella, his only ballet score, is no exception.
In October we’ll be moving into summer and Christmas will be just around the corner, making Cinderella the perfect ballet for the run up to the holiday season.”
Andrew Botha’s glittering designs frame the action and the full company lights up the theatre in a family-friendly production full of charm and magic.
