Slim to play Twakkie in Rhythm City

Slim's first appearance on Rythm City will be on May 14, 7pm.

Jerome ‘Slim’ Du Plooy is the next addition to the cast of Rhythm City where he will play the role of a gangster called ‘Twakkie’.

Slim spent some of his time growing up in Extension One where he says he learnt a lot of his values.

He moved to Kliptown and says that part of his life was hard-living.

Slim says he can relate to the character of Twakkie.

“Twakkie and I are persistent, we take what we want, talk a lot of nonsense but are determined and great leaders,” Slim said.

While growing up in Kliptown he was affiliated to gangs and would, with the rest of the gang, sit around a fire and talk about the success of others.

“The question ‘When are we going to be like that?’ always came up and one man always told me it would be me who would be successful,” Slim said.

Slim says things started turning around when he was spotted by the National Basketball Association (NBA).

He appeared on Mzanzi Magic last but says the opportunity to act in a soapie is like being on the set of a movie.

“When my agent told me I got the role I jumped up and down, I was very excited.

“I can’t wait to see it on Rhythm City, hopefully after this I will get more acting gigs,” Slim said.

Slim can be seen on Rhythm City from May 14 on etv at 7pm.
