Victory Sonqoba to host theatre play auditions

Are you young, energetic and an upcoming act? then make your way to Emmanuel Centre to show off your talents.

The Victory Sonqoba Theatre Company (VSTC) proudly sponsored by Diepkloof Square will be hosting stage theatre auditions on March 14.

They will be held at the Emmanuel Centre (next to ZCC church), Orlando East.

The VSTC under the inspirational Soweto Class of ’76 theme was founded by the late unsung arts and culture hero Bongani Linda.

Mahlodi Nape, Bongani’s wife said, “He left a legacy of an undying love, passion and amazing industriousness.

“Through his Victory Sonqoba Theatre Company, which had solid branches in Soweto and Newcastle, and East London in Eastern Cape, Linda staged plays with strong social commentaries.”

Nape said: “The play will be reintroducing the culture of books through theatre plays.

“We want to teach school pupils about the history of the country and also feel that the class of ’76 gave a lot to the struggle.”

She said they want them to know where they come from in order to know where they are going.

“The youth is facing a lot of challenges, including drug and alcohol abuse.”

“Some of the cast  will have first-hand experience of the uprising.

“The VSTC has produced the country’s best actors and actresses including rhythm city’s Mduduzi ‘Suffocate’ Mabaso and 7 de laan’s Nomsa Buthelezi, to name a few.

“We are specifically looking for actors and actresses between the ages of 16 and 35 years of age,” she concluded.

The auditions will last from 9am till 5pm.
