Fourth Annual Soweto Fashion Week

Fashion week featured some of the most talented up and coming fashion designers that Soweto has to offer.

The Fourth Annual Soweto Fashion Week wowed the crowd with exquisite garments at the Soweto Theatre last week.

The show lasted for three days and featured some of the most talented up and coming fashion designers that Soweto has to offer.

According to the founder of the Fashion Week Steven Manzini, the standard of our fashion is aimed at achieving international standards and that is what the fashion week was all about.

“We need exposure so that we have designers in our country who are producing proudly South African brand which can stand a chance to compete in the international stage, “ Manzini said.

Jabulile Nkosi from Zondi was part of the show and she said that she felt like she was in Hollywood for a short while because of the standard of the show itself, the fashion she saw and the vibe and company she was surrounded by.

“I never thought I’d experience such class and professionalism is Soweto of all places, one would expect such class elsewhere not here.

“I have faith that the fashion week is going to go far both as a brand and as a platform to take South African fashion to the next level.

“Next thing you know, London will be coming to us,” Nkosi said.

Credit producer of the fashion week, Ngugi ‘Velly’ Vere said that their aim from the onset this year was to embrace African wealth both in knowledge and in their work.

“Our vision is to put Africa on top and Soweto is just a start.

“I feel we did well in achieving our goal of making the show spectacular and we plan to spread this greatness across the whole continent,” Vere said.
