Residents are invited to Open Street Fair which will be hosted by the City Of Joburg on April 26 at Sofasonke Street, Orlando East.
The aim of the event is to promote healthy eating, education and active living.
“The initiative seeks to tackle the risk factors associated with obesity, unhealthy diet and physical inactivity. It will serve to instill a culture of healthy lifestyle choices in Johannesburg,” said Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development Department Nonceba Molwele.
There will be activities such as 10km cycling: 5km fun walk; aerobics, health screening (Diabetes, Hypertension, and Cancer including Women’s Health); weight lifting; exhibitions; six aside soccer and live entertainment.
“The City of Johannesburg in partnership with private doctors and other health workers will provide free health screenings during the event. They will also conduct a home based health screenings to the surrounding areas,” said Molwele.
