PinkDrive at Westbury Clinic

Philips Electronics has partnered with PinkDrive and the Westbury Clinic to support cancer awareness for the residents of the Westbury community.

Royal Philips Electronics is a diversified health and well-being company, focused on improving people’s lives through meaningful innovation in the areas of Healthcare, Consumer Lifestyle and Lighting.

The Royal Philips Electronics has partnered with PinkDrive and the Westbury Clinic to support cancer awareness for the residents of the Westbury community.

PinkDrive’s EduTruck gave bmen and women from the community the opportunity to attend an educational talk and receive free breast cancer examinations and prostate testing.

“We encourage men and women to be screened for cancer; as early detection can help save their life.

Through community-based initiatives, such as this one, Philips hopes to raise awareness and educate South Africans about cancers affecting men and women,” says Mr Jose Fernandes, district manager of Philips Healthcare Southern Africa.

Philips’ head office is based near Westbury Clinic and took great interest in bringing meaningful health education and care to its own, extended community.

“I am delighted that Philips partnered with City of Johannesburg Health to bring awareness and education to the Westbury community.

“By giving the community access to life-saving breast and prostate cancer examinations, Philips has supported the initiatives of the City of Johannesburg Health Department and illustrated how successful public and private partnerships work.

“We look forward to working together closely in the future and bringing meaningful healthcare solutions to communities in Johannesburg” said Sister Virginia Mosime, manager of health Programmes in Region B, City of Johannesburg.

Lettie Oliphante, an 88-year-old Westbury resident, was the first to arrive and stand in line for the testing of the breast cancer examinations.

Upon leaving the Edutruck Oliphante confirmed, “It went well, they said everything is fine, I thank God for everything.”

The day resulted in over 200 community members being examined and educated on breast, prostate and testicular cancer, and everyone was grateful for the opportunity to be involved.
