Newclare Flats: Still a work in progress for Everlasting Boxing Club

Bjorn Moses, a professional boxer from the Newclare Flats, started a boxing club at the Coronationville hall.

In April, an article was published on the new boxing club that had started in Coronationville by Bjorn Moses.

He explained the club’s progress since then and his quest to obtain more sponsorship.

Bjorn Moses, a professional boxer from the Newclare Flats started a boxing club at the Coronationville Hall in order to provide an activity for the youth of the community.

In the last interview, Moses expressed that the young trainees had to take turns in using the boxing equipment and this affected the time they had during training.

Today Moses has managed to receive sponsorship from Africa Mobile Technologies (Pty) Ltd, a company which focuses on IT consulting, project management and mobile technologies.

Moses is passionate about the sport and believes in purchasing quality equipment and kit for his gym.

With this in mind, the company sponsored the club with four pairs of sparring gloves, six pairs of boxing mitts and 15 skipping ropes.

“For them to sponsor me, I must register as a non-profit organisation (NPO) and then they will continue with the sponsorship me. There’s an NGO reference number that I need,” explained Moses.

According to Moses, the club still needs sponges so that the trainees could perform sit-ups and exercises on, they would need shorts and t-shirts so that the students can train in.

The main thing that the club now needs is a ring as Moses said that he now has to take the students to the Boxing Club in Brixton every Tuesday for the students to get the feel of a real boxing ring and they also get the opportunity to spar with other boxers.

Training is on a Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7 pm and classes are charged at R80 per student.

For more information on any sponsorship or training enquiries contact Bjorn Moses on 084 834 5010.
