Strokes FC battle it out in the Discovery tournament, Pimville

The team is capturing the hearts of supporters

‘Soccer’, ‘football’, whichever name you choose to use, this is a sport which captivates the hearts and minds of fanatics the world over. Strokes Football Club is a team which is capturing the hearts and imaginations of soccer lovers in the Eldos community.

The side boasts prolific striking capabilities, as has been proven by their strong performances in the Steven Pienaar and Nedbank Cup tournaments. They have recently taken the Toekomsrus league and are in a bid to add the Discovery tournament to their impressive list of silverware.

The tournament is currently underway at the Nike Centre in Pimville and the team is confident that with a strong show of support from their loyal fans, they would be able to add this notch to their belts.

Team coach Nathan Davies said, “Through God’s grace we are hopeful that we can add this lucrative tournament to our list of accomplishments.”

Comprised mainly of players from Eldorado Park, including Professional Soccer League players like Joshua van Wyk, Jose Garcia and Keanu Cupido who represented the U17 Bafana team at the World Cup in Chile last year, the team have an impressive line-up with a wealth of experience.

Team manager Llewelyn Wilson is appealing to supporters to make their way to the Nike Centre in Pimville where the tournament is being held.

He said, “Supporters from surrounding areas are always welcome at our games as they are the 12th man on the pitch.”

The tournament runs until December 28 and the winning team will walk away with R100,000 in prize money.
