Stix Morewa Challenge knockout stage looms

The Stix Morewa Challenge defending champs, PCO FC is looking forward to reatain its title.

The Stix Morewa Soccer Challenge is well underway and teams are competing against each other in the group stages.

Defending champion, PCO FC has become a force to be reckoned with and is leading the group with 15 points. The gutsy outfit has already qualified for the knockout stage and its coach, Beki Nkosi said this year teams are showing a great deal of determination and no team is taken lightly as all of them want to lift the trophy when the tourney comes to an end.

“We prepared well for the competition and are looking forward to retaining our title and bring the trophy home,” said Nkosi.

Under the auspice of Soweto Football Association, the competition has seen success since its inception 10 years back and has produced an electrifying affair with teams knocking each other out. This competition is one of the highly recognised tournaments under the development umbrella and is a great opportunity for players to show their skills and talent and attracts talent scouts.

The success of this tournament has seen some of the players been scouted and are now plying their trade at a professional level. The tournament is doing a great job in producing young talent from grassroots and was named after Stix Morewa not just to honour him but it is an opportunity to develop the future of South African football by training young players and improving the game.
