Nine Schools in battle for COPA Coca-Cola Champs

The battle for the COPA Coca-Cola National Tournament is going to be fierce.

Young footballers from various parts of the country are gearing up for the COPA Coca-Cola National Finals taking place from September 23 to 25 at Tempe Stadium. The competition is expected to be

The competition is expected to be the ultimate display of young footballing talent. 

 A total of nine teams, which have won the right to represent their province will take part in this championship. In addition to the battle to be named national champions, tournament ambassador, Simba Marumo and his team of scouts were tasked with putting together a COPA Coca-Cola all-star side dubbed the ‘Which Part Will You Play’ team.

Marumo set out to identify talented players embodying the unique roles needed to form a successful team and to represent the values programme’s aims to instil in its young participants. Players were selected at each of the nine provincial finals and will be together at the finals where Marumo will take on the role as their coach, and challenge a Bloemfontein Celtic academy side in what is sure to be a match of an impressive amount.

Fetsi Mbele of Coca-Cola South Africa said the tournament has the power to do even more than just developing young footballers. “Coca-Cola has been involved in grassroots football development in our country for more than 18 years and we do not only aim to assist the development of football in our country but we have the power to instil the values of teamwork, sportsmanship and persistence in our young participants,” said Mbele.

Marumo said he wishes all the schools well on their mission to be named the national champions.
