Ke Yona Team Search first phase ends on a high note

The Ke Yona Team Search will move to the next phase where 48 selected players will undergo a fitness training.

The first phase of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search concluded at the Lucas Moripe Stadium and in over 2000 aspiring footballers from different parts of the country taking up the opportunity to become South Africa’s next football stars.

Gauteng is well known for producing players with flair and creativity and this weekend was no different. The same province that unearthed last year’s Ke Yona Team captain and University of Pretoria forward, Ian Chikohwa saw the four team selectors being confused on choosing players after seeing a great deal of exceptional talent displayed.

To date, the team search has been the front runner in talent identification in South Africa with the most recent success story being that of Limpopo born defender, Aubrey Modiba being voted 2015/16 PSL young player the season.

The team search will now move to the next exciting phase of the boot camp where a total of 48 selected players from the five different provinces will undergo vigorous fitness training and play friendly matches to trim down the squad to the final 18-man squad that will face winners of this year’s Nedbank Cup, Supersport United in September.
