Nikon SA supports DNC tourney

Nikon will support the Danone Nations Cup with photography during the games from the provincial to the national finals.

Nikon South Africa has added its support in this year’s Danone Nations Cup tournament, one of the biggest junior soccer tournaments which caters for players between the ages of 10 and 12.

Nikon will support with photography during the games from the provincial and the national finals happening on June 28.

The tournament has been organised by Danone since 2000 and involves about 2.5 million youngsters each year from different parts of the world and is under the auspices of the South African Schools Football Association (SASFA).

The South African leg of this exciting youth soccer extravaganza includes over 2 500 schools taking part.

National winners will represent SA in the world finals taking place in Brazil and Danone and Nikon will be campaigning to find a child reporter who will accompany the SA team to Brazil.

This youngster will take pictures for publication.

Head of marketing for Nikon, Marli van Schalkwyk, said they will be sending a Nikon photographer to all nine provincial finals to capture the moments that these youngsters will want to cherish forever and they will be supplying pictures for the media.

Danone and Nikon will be running media competitions where fans can win one of 20 cameras on offer.

Danone SA sponsorship manager, Chantel Ehlers, said the Danone Nations Cup is 14 years old this year. It has gained credibility and acceptability in the international world of football and has a FIFA’s stamp of approval and to have Nikon on board puts the tournament on a different level.

The tournament starts from a round robin situation, then regional, provincial and national level before going to the world finals.
