Netball games continue to attract teams

Netball in Soweto growing in leaps and bounds.

The Soweto Netball League continued last week with teams battling each other for the much needed points.

The games were played at Elkah Stadium and according to one the league organisers, Gabisile Ndlovu they had the best games ever since the league started a few weeks ago.

“All the teams attended their games this time around and we had no walkovers.

“We had more teams joining in as well and we are still inviting teams from Soweto to join the league,” said Ndlovu.

She said getting more teams will play a big part in promoting the sport here in the sprawling Soweto and will motive players who are keen to realise their dreams of playing professional level in the foreseeable future. So far they have 33 teams in the senior division.

The league consists of the U9, U11, U13, U16 and seniors and is played in different parts of Soweto including Diepkloof, Meadowlands and Rockville. Ndlovu is one of the people who are playing a big part in uplifting netball in Soweto.

The next games will be played on April 6 and Ndlovu said she is looking forward to a great deal of attendance on the day.
