Kay Motsepe Cup registration still open

Thursday, last day for schools soccer teams to register.

The annual and lucrative Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup registration deadline is on Thursday.

A lot of teams have already registered and no team will be allowed to register after March 27.

The tournament is set to take place later this year and is played by schools in all the nine provinces, competing for a prestigious trophy and a whooping R1 million cheque.

This competition is organised by financial services company, Sanlam, Motsepe Foundation and Ubuntu-Botho.

Overall champions of this youth soccer showpiece will be awarded a trophy, gold medals and a R1 million cheque.

Runners up will receive R600 000 while third place will be given R500 000.

One of the key objectives of the tournament is to get as many football players as possible between the ages of 15 and 19 to compete and possibly be seen by talent scouts.

The tournament was initiated by Mamelodi Sundowns boss, Patrice Motsepe through the Motsepe Foundation. Some of the schools which have gained entry to this tournament include the gutsy Benny’s Sports Academy, Rosina Sedibane Modiba High School, Eric Nxumalo High School, Clapham High and School of Excellence.

  1. Morning!

I have been trying for some years to make my contribution towards schools soccer development but haven’t spoken to you because I do not have your address or contacts.

I would love to meet with the organizers of this beautiful initiative to discuss what my wishes are about school sport development with soccer as a starting point.

May I please be afforded the opportunity to seat and discuss my contribution towards your initiative witch I believe is a positive move.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Regards,
    V Maseko
