Heerengracht Primary School athletic champions
'Some inspire to win: we inspire each other and that is how we win.'
“This is an historic event for our school,” said Harold Heldsinger, principal of Heerengracht Primary School.
For the first time in 25 years the school obtained first position in the inter-primary athletics in Eldorado Park.
“Our slogan: Some inspire to win: we inspire each other and that is how we win, is realized in 2014,” Heldsinger said.
He says that the competition was evenly spread but it was at the finals where athletes had to fight for the lead.
Motivation was key in the success of the school achieving first place and Heldsinger says the secret to winning was by changing the mindsets of the athletes.
The athletes did a victory lap when it was announced that Heerengracht Primary School came first.
“We want this victory to spill in the classrooms.” Heldsinger said.
The school treated its athletes last Friday to a day of celebtration.
This achievement was made possible by the dedication, hard work and support from the staff, pupils and school governing body of the school. The parents played a crucial role in supporting our children.
Heldsinger said he is exceptionally proud of the athletes, parents and teachers.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for believing in us,” said Heldsinger.
