Soweto South LFA supports CHAN

Soweto South LFA organises its own CHAN.

In preparation for the Premier League and supporting the African Nations Championship (CHAN), the Soweto South Local Football Association has organised its own CHAN competition.

The competition has already started, is played at Zola Grounds and caters for the U14, senior teams and women soccer.

Teams are currently in a round robin stage, clashing for the much needed points to reach the knockout stages.

PCO Young Ones FC is one of the favourite teams to win in the U14 division and its coach, Bheki Nkosi said they have prepared well for the competition and have done well in their first game, sharing spoils with Zola Seven Stars FC in a six-goal thriller.

“Stars is one of the fearful teams in the association but we managed to snatch a point out of them after playing to a 3-all draw.

“My players have shown determination and are looking forward to reaching the knockout stages,” said Nkosi.

He said he is happy so far with the overall proceedings of the tourney as it has become a crowd puller.

“This is our new tournament and everything is running smoothly and players show a great deal of display, skills and talent.

“This shows that we are capable of developing, uplifting and keeping the community together through the sport,” said Nkosi.

The tournament’s aims include uniting the community and promoting sport from grassroots to professional level.

The finals will be played on February 1.
