Soccer has become one of the sporting codes that has been proven to keep young soccer players away from the scourge of drugs that has hit communities.

The football club was established in August 2013, after a need was identified in Bosmont and surrounding areas.

Duane Baxter is founding member and manager of the team assisted by club coach Desmond Le Roux.

“We come from a crime and drug driven community and we are very motivated to see and help these boys make positive choices and changes not only in our community, but in their personal lives too,” said Duane Baxter

The academy does not just focus on soccer training but on life skills are being taught to the players.

“Our daily curriculum consists of life skills programmes; on Mondays we educate the teams about substance abuse, time management, and peer pressure,” said Baxter.

The mission of the club is to:

· Getting the passion, interest and excitement back into the game which we feel is currently lacking-by getting the community as a whole more involved in the sport. Getting interested individuals to assist with development and coaching, bringing spectators back to the stadiums.

· Getting our talented players recognised provincially, nationally and to achieve their dreams of one day playing for our beloved national soccer side Bafana Bafana and pursuing overseas-based moves.

“We would like to invite you to attend our trials on February 3 at the Bosmont Football Grounds, at 5.30pm,” said Baxter.
