Off-duty detective of Eldos foils robberies

The Eldorado Park SAPS management appreciated the detectives' outstanding performance and encouraged all members to follow suit in fostering teamwork.

The Eldorado Park SAPS praised Detective Constable Madai for his bravery and dedication to duty after he apprehended suspects in two separate cellphone robbery incidents.

According to Sergeant Fezeka Khobo, the Eldorado Park SAPS communications officer, Madai’s outstanding performance demonstrates the station’s commitment to combating crime.

“On September 22, Madai was off-duty when he witnessed two suspects aged 17 snatch a cellphone from a woman near Shoprite Ext 5.

“He chased and apprehended one suspect, recovering the stolen phone. The community helped catch the second suspect, who was also handed to Madai,” Khobo said.

In an incident on October 10, Madai and Detective Constables Visagie and Macoba, responded to a robbery on the corner Cumming and Main roads, Kersiedorp, Eldorado Park.

They chased and arrested one suspect, recovering the stolen Huawei Y60 cellphone.

“Madai’s actions demonstrate exceptional dedication and bravery. We commend him and his team for their tireless efforts in keeping our community safe,” Khobo added.

The three suspects were taken to the Kliptown SAPS for detention.
