Local club keeps the elderly fit and healthy

The founder and fitness instructor, Thuso Victor Motaung, said he started the initiative in 2017 with the hopes of helping those living with chronic illnesses.

Sivukile Fitness Club is based in Pimville Zone 2 and is aimed at getting the elderly to exercise and move their bodies, from Monday to Thursday at 06:30.

“I thought why not take my time and passion and help the elderly with exercising so they can lead a better and healthier lifestyle.”

One of the elderly members of the group, Puleng Radeb, said: “I joined Sivukile in 2018 after retiring. I was inspired by my neighbour who was already part of the club and I decided to join too.”

She went on to further tell us that she is as fit and healthy as an ox and her clinic visits go smoothly.

Bishop Mosa Sono of Grace Bible Church donated the fitness equipment to the club and helped fix the field in Zone 2 where they do their training.

Adelaide Kutoana said people from Pimville should know about Sivukile and the benefits of being part of the club.

“We are also appreciative of what the bishop has done for us,” said Kutoana.
