Absa Run Your City Joburg 10K recommends city transport

Choose your route: Depending on their starting point, runners must choose the nearest Gautrain station and plan their route to the Park Station in Johannesburg, the closest stop to the event.

The 2024 Absa Run Your City Series will reach an exciting conclusion when 11 500 runners take to the streets of Johannesburg for the iconic Absa Run Your City Joburg 10K on September 24.

To ensure a seamless race day experience, the event organisers urge participants to use either the convenient park-and-ride service from the Johannesburg Athletics Stadium in the Ellis Park Precinct or the Gautrain and Gautrain Bus service.

“We are thrilled to welcome an impressive number of runners to the 2024 Absa Run Your City Joburg 10K,” says Michael Meyer, the managing director of Stillwater Sports and series founder.

“With the large influx of runners heading to the Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, avoiding traffic congestion and parking challenges is crucial.

“This is why we have implemented a park-and-ride service from the Johannesburg Athletics Stadium in the Ellis Park Precinct, offering safe parking with buses shuttling runners to the start from as early as 5:15 am.

“Alternatively, participants can opt for the Gautrain and Gautrain Bus service, which also provides a hassle-free commute.

“It is important to note that only runners wearing their race numbers on the front of their T-shirts will receive free access to the Gautrain and Gautrain Buses. Both services are complimentary for all entrants of the 2024 Absa Run Your City Joburg 10K.

“We strongly encourage all participants to use the park-and-ride or the Gautrain and Gautrain Bus services.

“With safe parking and stress-free transportation, runners can relax and enjoy the journey to the start line. This is just one more way we are ensuring a smooth and enjoyable race day experience for everyone.”
