Diepkloof Men’s Ministry launches with big prayers

The organisation will tackle issues such as drugs and crime which affect the community.

The official launch of the Diepkloof Men’s Ministry was filled with praise and worship at Zone 4 on September 15.

Reverend Ralekwe Jomo Malaka said they aim to unite men from Diepkloof in prayer while also taking on challenges the community is facing.

They operate under the banner of the Diepkloof Interdenominational Churches Forum.

“The aim is to bring change to the society and tackle challenges.

“Men don’t talk and we want to break that silence and discuss issues that affect men and young boys while building families in our community,” explained Malaka.

He noted the family union has been falling apart and as the men’s ministry, they want to reclaim it.

Members from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa, Methodist Church of Southern Africa, Uniting Reformed Church in Southern Africa, Anglican Church of Southern Africa, St Gabriel Apostolic and Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church are part of this ministry.

Together they have adopted a programme where they will visit different churches to pray together and uplift each other.

This is where they will also have engagements about their community involvement projects. These projects include school uniform donations where they help those in need in the community.

The event of September 15 also included a candlelight ceremony in remembrance of community and church leaders who have passed on.

The men honoured these leaders for being founders of the denominations and their contributions to community building.

“Today has been a great success, and we thank God everything went well.

“We are grateful after seeing men and women coming in numbers to ensure we have a successful event,” said Malaka.

He added they will continue their programme of awarding top-achieving learners and donating school uniforms in the community.

“Also in the pipeline is a men’s dialogue aimed at getting men to talk about issues that affect them and find solutions.
