The Eldos committee dismisses claims of low attendance

Eldorado Park Steering Committee (EPASCO) sets the record straight and refuted low turnout claims.

The Eldorado Park Steering Committee (EPASCO) dismissed claims of low turnout that led to the postponement of a public meeting at Don Mateman Civic Centre, EXT 5, Eldorado Park, on August 17.

The public meeting, comprising the councillors, EPASCO and School Governing Body (SGB) from various schools, was meant to explain the schools’ rebuilding projects in Wards 17 and 18.

It was postponed to August 21, according to Ward 18 Cllr Juwairlya Kaldine because there was no consensus due to low public turnout.

However, EPASCO’s secretary general, Golden Miles Bhudu, contradicted Kaldine’s sentiments.

He said, “EPASCO was outraged and disillusioned about the notorious propagandist spinning ragarding attendance of approximately 250 fellow concerned residents during a very informative and educative session regarding the pending multi-million rand project.

“Adding to that, the schools built decades ago have been a health and safety hazard for both educators and learners, and that could be rubbished by so-called low-turnout jargon.”

The schools that are meant to benefit from the demolishing, rebuilding, revamping, refurbishing and decoration project include Cavendish Primary, Eldomaine Primary, Kliptown Primary, Kliptown Secondary, Lavendale Secondary, and McBain Charles Primary.

Bhundu described the schools as a dead trap, citing that they should have been demolished three decades ago, post-1994.
