Prominent Jozi FM presenter court case postponed

According to the allegations, the presenter brutally assaulting Rose Buthelezi, his friend’s wife on January 27 while they were returning from an outing.

The court case of prominent Jozi FM presenter and DJ, Tshepo Junior Makgopa was postponed until September 19, after it emerged in court that the docket was missing.

Makgopa made a brief appearance in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on August 15, facing charges of Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) assault.

Speaking to Urban News, Makgopa’s victim, Rose Buthelezi said she does not feel well concerning how the court case is going.

“Right now I was hoping to get justice, so seeing that the docket is missing really does make me have a number of questions about what’s happening with this case,” said Buthelezi.

“Also to hear the magistrate stating that if by next week the docket is not found, the case will be closed and the perpetrator will be set free. To me it does not feel right, this case makes me feel that the South African justice system is failing me.”

Makgopa is alleged to have brutally assaulted Buthelezi, his friend’s wife on January 27 while they were returning from an outing.

Reports suggest that the incident occurred when Buthelezi was defending the presenter’s wife, whom he was hitting.

Representatives of the Tshegofatso Pule Foundation who were in court in support of the victim expressed disappointment on how the case has been going.

Speaking for the foundation, Bothlale Modisane said, “We are extremely disappointed, especially given the fact that we feel as if due processes are not followed.

“We feel that this matter is not exhausted and mitigated accordingly, so as a result we will stand firm and we will fight tooth and nail.

“If this docket is not found, people will be held accountable and this case won’t be one of the cases that are scrapped off then we keep quiet, we will not let the perpetrator go loose.”
