Police operation removes illegal firearm from Eldos streets

Operation Skoon Maak's operational focus is on contact-related crimes, like carjacking, armed robberies, monitoring the Golden Highway towards N12, stop and searches, liquor compliance as well as visible community policing.

A male suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition during Operation Skoon Maak which was conducted by the Eldorado Park SAPS members between 8 am and 2pm, on July 24.

The Eldorado Park SAPS Communication Officer, Sergeant Fezeka Khobo said whilst patrolling, the police stopped and searched the suspect after he tried to hide himself when he saw the police.

“Whilst searching him we found a 9 mm silver firearm in his possession as well as ammunition,” said Sergeant Khobo.

Thee arrested suspect was detained at Eldorado Park SAPS for further investigation and he is expected to appear before the court soon.

The station commander of Eldorado SAPS, Brigadier Maluleke commended the police for a successful operation and for not getting tired of removing illegal firearms from the streets of the Greater Eldorado Park area.
