Joburg Mayor appoints new Human Settlements MMC

“Councillor Mabaso is no stranger to the Human Settlements portfolio, having served in the same portfolio previously."

The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Kabelo Gwamanda, has appointed Mlungisi Mabaso as the new Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Human Settlements in the City.

This follows the resignation of former MMC and Councillor, Anthea Leitch last month.

“Councillor Mabaso is no stranger to the Human Settlements portfolio, having served in the same portfolio previously.

“He intricately understands the challenges of the space and will assist the current administration give due focus to challenges that include the upgrade of informal settlements and hostels,” said Mayor Gwamanda.

“Equally, he will bring new energy to our efforts to rid the City of bad buildings (hijacked buildings) and to expedite the development of new affordable Social Housing Units in the City.”

The Executive Mayor and Mayoral Committee welcomed Mabaso and wished him well in his new responsibilities.
