Residents join hands to celebrate Mandela

The event took place at the Noordgesig Community Centre, where the foundations organised a significant community feeding event.

In a heartfelt tribute to Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy, the Mohato Foundation in collaboration with Cartel Events and Catering, joined forces once again with the Manzi Mashatile Foundation to celebrate International Mandela Day.

This year’s theme, “We Care,” underscores the vital importance of community support and compassion.

The event took place at the Noordgesig Community Centre, where the foundations organised a significant community feeding event.

This was aimed at supporting and uplifting the local community by providing meals to those in need. This event manifested Mandela’s unwavering commitment to service and his belief in the power of collective action to bring about positive change.

Over 1000 people from the community graced the event where they got served a hot meal for the day. They were joined by Ward 29 Councillor, Brenda Damie, further amplifying the commitment to extend compassion and care within the community.

Neo Mohau Moyedi, founder of Mohato Foundation expressed his gratitude and said, “We are deeply appreciative of the support from the Manzi Mashatile Foundation.

Together, we are making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most, upholding the values that Nelson Mandela stood for.

“Through this collective effort, we hope to create a brighter, more compassionate future.”

The theme for the 2024 Mandela Day, “We Care,” reflects the Mohato Foundation’s mandate, which focuses oneducating society about drug and alcohol addiction and other social ill, providing essential support to recovering addicts.

This ongoing mission aligns perfectly with the values of empathy and community service that Madiba championed throughout his life.
