Nkosinathi Day Care hosts soup kitchen for locals

‘’Today, we want to instill in our kids the values of selflessness, compassion, and never passing judgment on others based on their hardships. We also want them to understand the importance of togetherness and loving one another."

Nkosinathi Day Care held a soup kitchen in commemoration of the 67 minutes for Nelson Mandela Day on July 18, at Protea Glen Extension 13.

As a way of educating learners about the value of acknowledging the 67 minutes for Mandela Day, the soup kitchen allowed them to participate by helping their educators as they were giving out soup and bread to the community.

“We decided to serve soup today to honour the day because we understand that food is one of the basic needs that our organisation can comfortably provide to the public. This is also one of the activities that we are able to involve the children in,” said Mpongwane.

Mpongwane added that the activity is beneficial in that it enables the children to interact and engage with their community.

It also teaches them the importance of building positive relationships with community members and that charitable giving starts at an early age.
