“We hope to inspire the youth by demonstrating through these kinds of events that they can become better people by working hard in school and taking part in memorable events that are held here.

“We are aware that a number of learners in schools come from dysfunctional homes and have adapted to negative situations, so we are trying to change that,” he said.

He added that although he had been wanting to organise the luncheon for a while, capacity and resource constraints prevented him from doing so.

Nevertheless, he was happy that their suppliers turned up and provided the products they required for the event.

The luncheon was a motivating and enjoyable occasion, with performances by local artists including DJ Terror and Mr Nation Thingz.

Retail Store Manager at Eskort Protea Glen, Makhosi Shoke said, “When Mfundo approached us and told us what he was planning to do in celebration of the Mandela Day, we couldn’t resist the offer, we jumped in and donated.
