Two gunman arrested in Kliptown and Eldos

Suspects apprehended for possession of unlicensed firearm and drugs.

Two suspects were arrested in separate incidents for possession of unlicensed firearms and drugs, on July 15.

Eldorado Park SAPS communication officer, Sergeant Fezeka Khobo said the first suspect, aged 29 was arrested in Beacon Road, Kliptown for possession of an unlicensed Baby Brown firearm with an erased serial number and one live round.

The second suspect, aged 33, was arrested in John Scott, Ext 8, Eldorado Park for possession of drugs and live ammunition.

Police seized a Baby Brown firearm, a cellphone device, three Mandrax tablets and six live rounds.

“Police seized three Mandrax tablets and six live rounds whilst they were performing stop and searches in the area,” said Sergeant Khobo.

She said the members were conducting Operation Skoonmaak and Operation Teka Hinkwaswo.

“We commend our officers for their tireless efforts in keeping our communities safe and removing illegal firearms and drugs from our streets,” said Brigadier Maluleke, the station commander of Eldorado Park SAPS.
