Five suspects arrested in Eldorado Park during Operation Skoonmaak

Five suspects will appear in court on various charges following arrests in Eldorado Park.

Eldorado Park police arrested five suspects for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, drugs and armed robbery during a stop and search operation around Eldorado Park, between 9 am and 4 pm, on July 12.

Two female suspects aged 17 and 22 were arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, one male suspect was arrested for armed robbery and two other male suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.

According to the Eldorado Park SAPS Communication Officer, Sergeant Fezeka Khobo, both females were arrested at Harvard Street, EXT 1, Eldorado Park, where police conducted stop and searches.

A black Glock firearm was seized from a 22-year-old suspect by the police,

“The 22-year-old suspect was found in possession of a black Glock firearm which was reported stolen at Eldorado Park SAPS.

 

“The 17-year-old suspect had a black Beretta that was reported stolen at Vanderbilpark,” said Sergeant Khobo.

Operation Skoonmaak’s focus was on all contact-related crimes, especially carjacking, armed robberies, monitoring the Golden Highway towards the N12, liquor compliance, drug trafficking, gangsterism and crime hotspots.

Two female suspects aged 17 and 22 were arrested for the position of unlicensed firearms.

The five suspects were arrested and detained at Eldorado Park SAPS for further police investigation and will appear in court soon.
