Prayer session held Khutshong Empowerment Centre

Khutshong Empowerment Centre along with the community of Dobsonville recently held a candle light prayer service, praying for safety and efficiency in the community at Maranatha Reformed Church of Christ.

Khutshong Empowerment Centre is an organisation that combats Gender-Based Violence (GBV), helps educates the public about GBV and assists victims in seeking support.

Founder of Kutshong Empowerment Centre, Beatrice Moilwa said through the candle light prayer, they hope to spread love across the community because they believe that if everyone could see how important it is to love one another, the world may be a better place.

Moilwa said, “In today’s prayer, we want to remember all the people we lost to GBV, we want to pray for our kids to stop killing and fighting at school, we want our kind to see each other as brothers and sisters and to have peace within them, we want our families to be at peace, and we want a better community,”

Ward 48 Counsellor, Salamina Mpotulo said, “Organisations like Khutshong truly help change the community, and I’m happy to be a part of this amazing initiative.

I hope more people can attend the upcoming sessions because there is a lot to learn from such initiatives.

“I feel very happy and blessed to see an organisation made up primarily of young people fighting against bad things that happen within our community.”

“Although this is my first visit to the Khutshong Empowerment Centre, from what I’ve seen so far, I can tell that this organisation is capable of bringing significant change.

“I hope that these kinds of programmes can continue because they have a significant positive impact on many people,’’ said Radebe.
