Batsogile Primary School receives seasonal uniforms from Africanbank

The institution also emphasises the importance of children having the dignity to learn in an empowering environment under good and stable conditions.

Africanbank launched a Winter Uniform Drive for learners of Batsogile Primary School to help them get through this season and be able to go to school without any disruptions.

1 041 winter and summer uniforms, school shoes, and stationery packs were given to learners from Grade R to Grade 7 at the Klipspruit based school.

This follows a visit that Africanbank had at the school last year for a gardening session.

That’s when the bank saw the challenge of school uniforms from learners at the school and decided to come back this Youth Month.

“The reason why we are doing this is because it’s in line with our heritage, history, and legacy as a bank that is for the people by the people that serve our people.

“These are the communities that we serve because they are very important to us and are close to our hearts,” said Percy Maphumulo, Head of Sustainability at Africanbank.

Part of the bank’s approach to providing support in the education of young minds is ensuring that learners have the opportunity to go to school in full uniforms.

The institution also emphasises the importance of children having the dignity to learn in an empowering environment under good and stable conditions.

The acting principal of the school, Kesentseng Tshukudu expressed her gratitude towards Africanbank and shared that the bank has been with them since last year.

“I’m happy that Africanbank has been part of the people who have been with us since last year.

“When they came to do gardening, I think they saw the need to come back to the school. So, they proposed it to me and I was so happy to be one of the people they chose to donate to,” said Tshukudu.

This also brought a lot of joy to the parents as they were part of this day to help their children carry their uniforms and stationery.

One parent expressed how grateful she was and how this initiative was important since other parents do not work and do not receive social grants.

A grade R learner’s parent, Mary Mathabe commented, “I am so happy that this initiative came to us because not all parents can afford full school uniform. This is so good because it’s not just winter uniform, summer uniform is also given meaning next year we will be okay.”
