Ramaphosa engages Sowetans during Democracy Big Walk for ANC in Vilakazi

"We have gathered here to say to our people we will not forsake you, as long as you are still with the ANC your pain and suffering will come to an end."

African National Congress (ANC) President, Cyril Ramaphosa said his party will win the elections, whether they like it or not.

He told hundreds of Sowetans during the Democracy Big Walk he led at Vilakazi Street, Orlando on Friday, May 24.

Ramaphosa said, “For me it is an honour to be here on the eve of our rally when we will be showing that we are going to win.

In many ways we’ve also come to report to the legend of our movement where our president Nelson Mandela used to live here in Vilakazi to say to him, ‘president don’t worry the ANC is going to win the elections, whether they like it or not the ANC is going to win’. As I am here I can already smell the sweet victory.”

Also at the walk was ANC Youth League President, Collen Malatji, former deputy president Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Gauteng ANC provincial chairperson Panyaza Lusufi and ANC Women’s League President Sisisi Tolashe.

“We have gone through the length and the breadth of our country, I have spent a considerable amount of time listening to our people in various areas of the country and I’ve listened very carefully to what our people are saying,” continued Ramaphosa.

He added that South Africa must not be stuck in the situation of unemployment and the ANC want young people to be employed.

He said when they are talking about unemployment they are not only referring to those between the ages of 18 to 35, but even those above that age must get job opportunities.

“Whether they like it or not, on May 29 the ANC is going win. We have gathered here to say to our people we will not forsake you, as long as you are still with the ANC your pain and suffering will come to an end,” he said.
