Eldos well represented at the Intercontinental Dance Championships

The school has been operational in the community of Eldorado Park since 2014 and has seen hundreds of kids come through its doors over the years.

A household name in the community of Eldorado Park, dubbed No Limits Academy of Arts International (NLAAI) celebrates a victorious campaign at the Intercontinental Dance Championship (IDC) SA qualifiers held at Randburg, on May 11.

Having produced more than 40 national champions, they are not strangers to the competitive circuit, with the leadership of their director, Jonathan Retief.

He is a highly decorated national champion at the forefront of all competitive preparations at the school.

The school was also placed on a podium at last year’s Euro Dance Fest with two groups taking silver in their categories and Retief scooping his 11th national gold medal in the hip hop section and placing third during the IDC final.

Retief and his troop now have their sights set on Cape Town as they have all qualified to represent South Africa at the IDC finals in September.

“The dancers that competed this year have been dancing with the school for a year if not less. Our teachings stand the test of time and competition,” said Retief.

NLAAI dancers won in two categories with the first prize winners Emihle Qomoyi and Asherdene Hopper obtaining gold while Kay Jordaan and Shernique Mc Kenzie obtaining bronze in the junior two on two Kremp Next Gen category.

Retief and Alexander Carlo obtained silver in the two on two Krump Open Section category.

Under a decade of the school’s existence, it has won events like SA Dance School Championships, Euro Dance Fest, Talent Africa and Hip Hop International (SA Qualifiers) among other major competitions in the country.
