Business market day hosted in Orlando East

The event was meant to give a platform to small businesses to grow by building a culture of growing together through support.

MaaBee Retreat Centre hosted a business market day in Orlando East on April 27.

The event was meant to give a platform to small businesses to grow by building a culture of growing together through support.

Mabohle Mbatha, the founder of MaaBee Retreat Centre is an entrepreneur who runs diverse businesses alongside her partner.

The business offers a range of services such as car wash, beauty salon and spa, beloved kasi favourite food, after-care for children as well as coding and computer lessons for school children during weekends.

“We came up with an idea that we should commemorate Freedom Day while at the same time trying to entertain and remembering those that sacrificed their lives for this day,” Sandile Mhlanga explained the purpose of the day.

The community members supported the business market day.

Poets, Artists, and business owners were allowed to showcase their work as a way to gain exposure to the local market and the people who were part of the day as attendees.

“We wanted to make sure that we give a platform to other businesses and artists to make sure that they come up with us as we grow,” Mhlanga added.

The event had members from the Orlando East business forum supporting the business market day and residents also came in numbers to celebrate Freedom Day and support local business.

MaaBee Retreat Centre aims to give back to the community by growing the local economy. They are doing this by prioritising employing people who reside in the same neighbourhood where they operate.
