Orlando East Gogo (74) left in destitute

She is currently living alone and has been without electricity, running water and food in the house.

Mapule Annah Lekgari is a 74-year-old Gogo who resides in Orlando East.

She is currently living alone and has been without electricity, running water and food in the house.

She is living in an unpleasing condition with no one to look after her.

Annah has been living in Soweto from the time she was born and after the passing of her parents that is when her mental health problems began and she hasn’t been getting any medical attention or taking any pills which made it worse.

“All I want is for my mother to get healed and get medication that will help calm her down.

“I am willing to go back home to stay with her and take care of her so I can be satisfied should one day she depart from this earth. There is nothing I wish more than that,” said her daughter, Bridget Lekgari.

She further explained how Gogo Annah has since become too violent and aggressive since she became mentally ill and isolates herself from everyone including neighbours and family members.

She added that Gogo no longer receives her SASSA grant and has no means of income and only eats food only picks on the streets.

Kasi Hero Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Pimville took it upon itself to help restore Gogo’s dignity by helping with her living condition.

The foundation has made the community aware of Gogo’s situation and opened a platform online where donations can be made towards helping her.

Ndivhuwo Liphadzi, the Chairman of Kasi Hero Foundation stated that on April 24 there will be a cleaning session at Gogo’s house and that everyone is welcome to come and help.
