Heartfelt tributes poured for two dead boys of Jabulani

This occurred following the passing of Martins and Zungu who were allegedly struck by lightning last month.

Heartfelt tributes from the family, friends and community members poured for the late Ayanda Martins (13) and Lwandle Zungu (11) at the open field, next to Pace Commercial Secondary School in Jabulani.

On March 28, a candlelight prayer was hosted by Jozi FM CEO, Dr. Mpho Mhlongo and the Jozi FM family to honour the lives of the departed and to offer support to their families.

The attendies at the memorial service

This occurred following the passing of Martins and Zungu who were allegedly struck by lightning last month.

“We came together to pray today after hearing about the two kids who allegedly passed away from lightning strikes.

“Our motives are to support the families and make sure that we pray and ensure that a tragedy of this magnitude never happens in our community again,” said Dr Mhlongo.

Dr. Mhlongo expressed his gratitude to the community during his interaction with them for their patience and large turnout for the memorial service.

Speaking to the community, the uncle of Martins, Sizwe Mbonani said they’re stunned by what happened and have a lot of unanswered questions but they’re giving God space so the boys’ souls can rest.

“I want to express my gratitude to everyone who attended today; your collective support means a lot.

“I also want to thank Jozi FM for their kindness, love and support. Your support encourages us to turn to God and let him take care of everything,” said Mbonani.

The families of both the deceased

Community leader, Jerry Sikhosane said the work that Jozi FM and Dr. Mhlongo do for the community makes the community happy.

“Njomane’s positive energy is a source of strength for the Soweto community, and we hope he will keep up his good work. We hope that he will always be kind to everyone and that his generosity will never run out,” said Sikhosane.
