Letsibogo Gilrs High gets a boost on coding and robotics

They donated laptops and robotics equipment to enhance the learners’ digital literacy and problem-solving skills.

On March 7, MTN SA Foundation together with Sfiso Edtech visited Letsibogo Girls High School in Meadowlands.

They donated laptops and robotics equipment to enhance the learners’ digital literacy and problem-solving skills.

The visit was also aimed at assessing the practicality and impact of intergrading coding and robotics in the school curriculum.

The event marked a central moment in their commitment to equipping local learners with essentials by preparing them for challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The school already has a robotics and coding programme running and the donation by MTN SA Foundation and Sfiso Edtech will give it the boost it needs.

Supporting the school’s robotics and coding programme is witness to the collaborative efforts between government and the private sector in bridging critical skills gaps, especially for township schools.

“The basis for us being in this school is something that one cannot express in words. Firstly, this programme is a need for young South Africans.

“What we are trying to emphasize or reinstate with our girls is continuous learning, agility and being able to adapt to everything as technology is growing everywhere,” said Soso Motloung, the Programmes Manager for education at MTN Foundation.

Learners who are part of the programme were delighted and happy to receive the donation and are confident that it will help them in their learning journey.
