Bidvest Afcom launches Grade R classes in Pimville

They were assisted by the two Grade R teachers along with the three community members who were employed for this development.

After two months of restructuring and rebuilding, Bidvest Afcom launched the new Grade R classes and play field on February 16 at the Winnie Ngwekazi Primary School in Pimville.

The school was chosen out of six schools because of its passion for the wellbeing of the children as well as their investment in the nutrition of their learners.

This initiative was part of the company’s socio-economic development programme, which aims to improve the education of township learners by providing them with an environment that draws them to school.

Denny Poovan, Managing Director for Bidvest Afcom and Sellotape said, “We chose Grade R because it is the foundation of the school career, an environment that prepares them for their school journey. It is our contribution to deliver to society responsible adults that are also passionate about advancing their own lives.”

According to Deputy Principal, Matthews Tshwari Kgatla this means a lot for their school because they have had multiple companies promising them to assist with the improvement of the school but none of them pitched.

“Their second visit was the one that made us believe in their promises for our school.

“We truly appreciate what they have done for our learners for this will motivate them to enjoy learning and look forward to coming to school,” said Principal Kgatla.

The Bidvest Afcom team spent their weekends at the school prior to the launch, to rebuild and renovate the entire Grade R space. They were assisted by the two Grade R teachers along with the three community members who were employed for this development.

They did not only come through for the children but also for the community through employment. They also promised the school to come back for stage two of the education upliftment initiative.

“It is confirmed, we will be coming back for our second development which is the revamping of the kitchen by the end of June. Because we believe that nutrition is important for the learner’s wellbeing,” Poovan concluded.
