Local youngster nominated for 2024 Emerge African Awards

Born and raised in Soweto, Pertunia has accomplished a great success in both entertainment and business industries, she has triumphed over obstacles and grown to be a well-respected figure in the community.

Talented actress, commercial model and philanthropist, Pertunia Malingisa has been nominated for the Youth Empowerment Ambassador category, at the 2024 Emerge Africa Awards.

She has been nominated among 14 other nominees from various regions of South Africa and other African countries.

Emerge Africa Awards is an initiative and movement that seeks to honour and celebrate a cross- section of the continent’s most influential individuals, brands and organisations from a wide range of Industries who are making a difference on the African continent.

Born and raised in Soweto, Pertunia has accomplished great success in both entertainment and business industries. She has triumphed over obstacles and grown to be a well-respected figure in the community.

“It is truly a tremendous honour to be nominated for the Emerge Africa Awards, I am humbled and grateful for this recognition of my work. It feels like a validation of the time, energy and passion that I have poured into my craft,” expressed Malingisa.

Apart from her career as an actor and model, Malingisa is also the founder of three remarkable organisations, including Kutlwano Malingisa Foundation, a charitable organisation that supports youth empowerment initiatives in South Africa.

Miss Braamfischerville, a beauty pageant that has been ongoing for ten years, Mr. and Miss Mzansi International and she also serves as the national director for Clash of the Province Beauty Pageant.

“I believe that through my work as a young leader of the community, I have the opportunity to inspire the people of Soweto as well as South Africa in many ways. One of the most powerful ways I can do this is by providing a platform for young men and women to showcase their talents and achievements,” she said.

Malingisa said she believes that recognising and celebrating the accomplishment of the youth can help inspire others to strive for success.

“I am committed to using my platform to promote positive messages of hope, determination and self-confidence. By doing so, I hope to create a ripple effect of inspiration that will spread throughout the community and beyond,” she said.

In order for Malingisa to bring the award home and keep putting Soweto on the map, she is pleading to the public to vote for her.

The awards have a voting portal, where the people can vote.
