Eldos feeding scheme pleads community for donations

They do not accept cash but interested residents can come deliver food, gas for stoves and vegetables at 211Edward Baaitjies Street.

Thusa Bantwana Feeding Scheme which provides fresh cooked meals for the community of Eldorado Park Ext 8 two days a week, is seeking food supplies from organisations or residents that are able help.

Between Tuesday and Thursday, they feed approximately 400 people each day.

They are seeking hand delivered food donations and assistance that will enable them to continue running their feeding scheme for their community.

Florence Steenkamp also known as Auntie Florence said, “There are children who goes to bed without a plate and on Monday mornings we make soft porridge and feed the children before they go to school.

“We are asking for more help because this feeding scheme is helping a lot of families and we are grateful to the Pastor and the butchery that have been assisting with fresh food to cook.”

Feeding schemes in previously disadvantaged communities play an important role to help to relieve child hunger and also to relieve poor caregivers from some of the burden of worry when they are unable to provide enough food for their children.
