Local ECD paints town blue and receives donations

“When they first visited us, they came to repaint the centre in our desired colours and that was followed by installing boards with our school name and logo.

Blue Ribbon painted the township blue when they visited Thubelihle Early Childhood Development Centre to shower them with donations to start the 2024 academic year.

The joyous day saw children and teachers of the centre receiving donations of sleeping sponges, blankets, learning materials as well as bread from the company.

The principal of Thubelihle, Ntsiki Patricia Qhaba said they are grateful to companies like Blue Ribbon for always coming on board to assist them when they are in need.

She added that their relationship started last year when the Blue Ribbon marketer passed the centre and encouraged them to continue purchasing Blue Ribbon bread at their local stores for them to be chosen as one of the local crèches to benefit from their project of ploughing back to the community.

“When they first visited us, they came to repaint the centre in our desired colours and that was followed by installing boards with our school name and logo.

“This is very heart-warming and for a centre that was established in 2019 I am glad to say that we have come very far in building positive relationships with our sponsors and the community we serve,” Qhaba said.

Although this comes with various challenges that the centre needs to tackle head on, Qhaba said they had to learn the community they serve and their day to day challenges including the high rate of teenage pregnancy win the area which results in the centre taking care of children from young mothers and parents and guardians depending solely on child foster care grants.

Blue Ribbon recently visited Thubelihle Early Childhood Development Centre in Diepkloof.

“The day to day running of an ECD centre requires one to be selfless when serving because at the end of the day we do it for the well-being of these innocent children and the most important part is laying foundation for their education because we cannot turn the children away because of their irrespective background, their safety is a priority to us.”
