There is no such thing as an overnight success but greatness requires consistency and sacrifice and this is what these young ladies applied throughout the year.

Naledi Tae, Nompumelelo Nxumalo and Nicole Nyembe. Class of 2023 top achievers

According to Nxumalo who aspires to study medicine, it is all about consistency. “You have to put in the work from term one until term four. Sacrifice the sleep and deny yourself one year of life enjoyment because it actually does pay off at the end,” she said.

Matric is one year of abstinence from all the pleasures of life. It is a year that allows you to be selfish about what you choose to invest in and it is definitely not an easy road to embark on with discipline and support from those around you.

Nyembe who is also thrilled with her matric results and wants to study computer science stated that, “I was very happy when I saw my results. I met my goals and I will be studying computer science. I am very proud of myself,” she said.

Tae aspires to own a publishing company where she will be able to share her stories with the world and also reinforce the culture of reading in black communities.

She believes that young people have great stories to tell and her publishing company will provide them with a voice.

She concluded by encouraging the class of 2024 to stay the course. “Although it’s going to be a tough year and you’ll feel like giving up, don’t crumble under pressure because it ends sooner than you think,” she said

Emshukantambo continues to being one the best thriving schools in Soweto.
