Local school hosts fun day

Ofentse Mkase Ditawana Primary School ended the academic year on a high note as they hosted their year-end fun day together with Absa employees on November 09.

Ditawana Primary School ended the academic year on a high note as they hosted their year-end fun day together with Absa employees on November 09.

The day which was filled with fun saw Absa donating a whooping R50 000 to the school to assist with building a new classroom as part of their Force For Good programme.

Absa head of HR, Boledu Seima said, “The reason we are here today is to show communities that we are not only here to bank but to make a difference in communities that our staff are from.

Learners received various goodies from Absa.

“Our partnership with the school started last year when we had our gardening and classroom painting project as part of our school infrastructure development programme and since then, we are here to assure the school that our relationship with them continues.”

She added that as their relationship with the school progresses to next year, they will be focusing on the educational aspect to ensure that learners contribute meaningfully in the future.

Absa donated R50 000 to Ditawana Primary School to help with building a new classroom.

“The educational aspect will be the phase two of our relationship and journey with the school. We want the learners to understand what the bank is and what it does.

“We are also glad that we were able to pledge the donation of money that will help with the building of the classroom and we are grateful to all stakeholders and colleagues who came on board to assist us raise the money in a sports day we recently held as Absa.”

The learners also received various goodies from the company such as library books, sanitary pads as well as leftover material from their school painting project which can be used for the maintenance of the school.

The principal of Ditawana Primary School, Nomasonto Luvuno expressed great gratitude when addressing the stakeholders.

She said, “This is a joyous day for us as we mark our union with Absa, it shows that we are indeed a family and as a school we cannot wait for more projects to come.”
